This woman has serious issues when it comes to choosing a mate:

A MAN who doused a woman with petrol and set her alight after she repeatedly rejected his marriage proposals has been sentenced to 14 years in jail.

The Supreme Court heard today that 35-year-old Hasan Huseyin Alipek of Richmond abducted Hulya Cavus from a city hotel and took her to an isolated part of Broadford, north of Melbourne, where he set her alight.

An earlier Magistrates Court hearing was told the 38-year-old mother of three had resisted Alipek’s advances because she was reluctant to remarry after her ex-husband, Gulbey Cavus, stabbed her six times at her workplace.

Ban The Board

One of the most unworthy and inefficient organisations in Australia, the WA Potato Marketing Board, has been intentionally marketing their fattening food directly to children in this disgraceful campaign. They’ve even gone so far as to create cartoon-style mascots in order to make their fat-causing products more appealling to impressionable young children.

In addition, the Potato Marketing Board has long employed a fat, jolly man known as Mark Mitchell to foist their inferior products upon kids. The fact that Mitchell closely resembles Santa Claus is no coincidence.

Potatoes are a key ingredient in some of the most fattening foods consumed by Australian kids, such as “Chips”, “Potatoes Au Gratin” and “Hashbrowns”. One can only hope that Labor’s new anti-junk food proposal will be effective in curtailing their irresponsible ad campaign, if not shutting them down altogether.

What The Fuck?

South Australia’s Court of Criminal Appeal has reduced a jail sentence given to a man who broke into an elderly couple’s house because he is Aboriginal.

The Appeal Court ruled that Aborigines are at greater disadvantage in society that whites.

Darren Clarke, 29, broke into the Port Pirie house of a couple in their 70s in November 2002 by smashing the back door.

He ransacked two rooms and stole alcohol and money.

The couple was terrified and traumatised.

Clark was sentenced to three years with a non-parole period of 23 months.

He appealed against that sentence and one of his grounds was that he was Aboriginal.

The Court of Criminal Appeal agreed saying an offender’s aboriginality could be relevant.

Did I read that correctly or is this some kind of horrible dream?

Reality Identified

Big Brother just keeps getting more real all the time:

LONDON (Reuters) – “Big Brother” was taken off air for 90 minutes early today after screaming housemates threatened to kill each other and had to be dragged apart by security guards.

Producers of the reality TV show said they pulled the plug when contestants pushed one another, hurled trays and unleashed a torrent of swearing.

Not only are the incidents of actual “reality” increasing, but Big Brother really is watching now…

Police said on Thursday they were examining the brawl.

“We’ve obtained a copy of the tape of last night’s footage and we’re looking at it with a view to seeing whether there’s anything to take forward,” said a spokeswoman for Hertfordshire police.
