When it meshes with the 'sad' mind, it allows you to deal with those emotions with the artist in a kind of support role. Providing a safe emotional space for you to let them flow, and then go. OTOH country music FOOLS YOU into doing this, then traps you into exposing yourself to emotions WITHOUT support because there is not emotional content in (most, to be frank) country music.
