Much Appreciated

Shame on me for not blogging this yesterday.

”Secretary General Gorbachev, if you seek peace – if you seek prosperity for the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe – if you seek liberalization: come here, to this gate.”

”Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate.”

”Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.”

Harm is especially appreciative:

As somebody who was born & raised in a country that was a part of the Eastern block, this day holds more significance than you can probably imagine. I was far too young to understand or appreciate the implications of the declaration at the time. Even if I did, I couldn’t have imagined the tremors & reverberations it would send down history’s spine. But I’ve no illusions: without Reagan’s “jingoism,” without his “simplistic,” black & white foreign policy, without his maligned Reagonomics & “bellicose posturing,” the Berlin wall might still be standing today & I, instead of blogging up a storm, would be busy attending an enforced mass-rally praising the greatness & goodness of one of the most demented dictators in history, Ceausescu.

Hey, Ronald.

Thanks.
