The Lucky Country
Australian teens are getting lucky in plague proportions:
TEENAGE pregnancy and abortion rates in Australia are among the highest in the developed world, according to a review of adolescent sexual activity.
The University of WA paediatrics and child health unit review found Australia had the sixth highest teenage pregnancy rate and the third highest teenage abortion rate among 15 to 19-year-olds in OECD countries.
These days, of course, nobody does anything unless they’ve been forced to by the evils of society:
University of Western Australia medical researchers Dr Rachel Skinner and Professor Martha Hickey said young people were often pressured into sexual relationships, through their peers and images in society, before they were taught the skills to resist these pressures.
Or perhaps they quite enjoy it?
