Hookes Dead

Bouncers are not there to help you. They are employed by pubs to intimidate patrons, and their job satisfaction comes from beating up people who are trying to enjoy themselves.

The vast majority of bouncers are violent, steroid abusing criminals. Unfortunately, one of Australia’s great sportsmen happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time:

David Hookes, the former Australian Test batsman and Victoria’s coach, died in a Melbourne hospital late last night after being injured while attempting to break up a fight outside a St Kilda hotel.

Eye-witnesses said that Hookes was trying to break up a row between a group of bouncers and the wives and girlfriends of players of the Victorian cricket team. “The sound [of Hookes being hit] was sickening,” one witness told reporters. “It was an ego thing [for the bouncers]. They wanted a fight. That’s the way it looked like.”

A 22-year-old man, Zdravco Micevic, was charged with assault after a brief appearance in the Melbourne Magistrates Court.

Bouncer: Murderer.
Pub that employed him: Accessory to murder. No excuses. You employed him because he was a violent thug. He became violent and killed a patron. YOU ARE FUCKING CULPABLE.

Murph says it much better than I can in my angered state.
