The Kids Are All White

The numbers don’t add up. Could this be an example of systematic racial discrimination by Australian Police?

This weekend in Perth:

POLICE were injured and nine people arrested when gatecrashers invaded an 18th birthday party in Kalamunda.

In one of the most violent nights in Perth this summer, police in Scarborough also broke up a series of brawls in another wild night at the beach trouble spot.

I missed another riot? I have to stop leaving the pub so early. That’s twice in 3 months!

Almost 30 police in riot gear were pelted with bottles and rocks when they tackled a drunken mob of up to 120 youths in Coral Way, Kalamunda, just before midnight on Friday.

Police said 11 officers suffered minor injuries after being struck by projectiles, including rocks ripped from gardens.

Nine people, including eight juveniles, were charged with offences including escaping legal custody and assaulting police.

More charges were expected to be laid after police viewed video footage of the riot.

Last weekend in Sydney:

Calm has returned to the inner Sydney streets of Redfern after a night of rioting during which more than 50 police were injured.

Four people were taken into custody after anger erupted at the death of 17-year-old Aborigine Thomas Hickey, who was impaled through the neck on a fence on Saturday morning.

Quick calculation of the ratios here…

Arrests per police injured:

Kalamunda: 9 arrests, 11 injuries = 82%
Redfern: 4 arrests, 50 injuries = 8%

Conclusion: Police are 10 times more likely to arrest misbehaving youths if they are white.

I report, you decide!
