Gender equality could spell the end of female sports in Canada:
As two Winnipeg sisters find out Tuesday if they’ve made the boys’ hockey team at their high school, their recent human-rights victory has spurred boys to try out for girls’ sports teams.
[…]
“We have to see as a board what we want to do. Our big concern is how this whole thing could affect female participation in sport,” he said.“If we get four guys or five guys going out for the [girls’] basketball team, there’s four or five females that won’t make the team — and I dare say a bunch of other ones aren’t going to compete — and we could end up with some female teams being made up of mostly men.
“We worked very, very hard to promote and build up female participation in sports,” Glimcher added.
“Everything that our organization has done … is based gender-equal. And if we all of a sudden get an influx of males participating, it could affect female participation and that would be a travesty.”
Yes, but the boys who might miss out on the hockey team in favour of girls can presumably go and get fucked? Where are all the people concerned about the boys who would obviously miss out on a spot in the boys gymnastics or diving teams?

You failed to mention all the boys wanting places in such manly sports as synchronised swimming Olympic softball. Another case of women going too far. I have no problem with seeing Michelle Wie playing with the men. It’s better than the fact that most women golfers play with the women, if you know what I mean.

I enjoyed reading this news report.
I get the impression that there are a lot of men who originally supported the feminist movement on the grounds of “fair go” only to see it become the avaricious power that it is today.
The backlash, or the pedulums swinging is the danger point. I hope that the change is done through the ballot box and not any unfortunate course of action.
A feminist website, Emily.com, adovcates women should only vote for women, this is the prededent that will allow men voting for men.

A wise man (I think it was HG Nelson) once said: too much sport is never enough.
Why don’t the schools/school districts in question offer both boys’ and girls’ teams in all these sports? You’d support that Yobbo?
AD: All them wimmin-dominated boardrooms, moneyed professions and judicial benches, the worldwide preponderance of femmynista government ministers and MPs… the avaricious power is ascendant! Dammit! Rwanda now has 49% of its parliament comprised of women, and look what happened there! I rest my case!

Err they did. The problem is now that the girls want to be considered for selection for both the girls’ and the boys’ teams.

One thing that strikes me as odd is that no-where in the article was the idea of a “mixed” team suggested – only male teams with females in it and vice versa.

oops, I misread the article — I thought it was an issue of the girls/boys not having a team of their own gender provided/supported by the school, in which case it seems vaguely reasonable for them to apply for the only existing team.
