Questions And Answers With The LDP
(crossposted on my campaign blog)
A religious group, The Australian Christian Lobby, recently sent out a questionnaire to parties running in the upcoming election on a range of political issues . Many of the questions, predictably, are related to issues considered important by Christians, but they are questions that most people have an opinion on nevertheless.
Go here to read the LDP’s answers to the questionnaire.

Jeez, I could pretty much vote for you guys. And I would if you had a hope in hell. But unfortunately, you’re probably just going to siphon votes away from Howard, thus ensuring a Rudd Labor government. And that just will not do.

Australia has preferential voting. You can put us 1 and Howard 2. If we don’t win (which as you say, we most likely won’t), then Howard gets your vote anyway.
So there’s no excuse not to vote for us 🙂

Now there’s something you don’t see every day. A political party or candidate that actually says no to someone, without spin or deflection, even when they know the answers they give aren’t the ones that people want to hear.
I’ll be keen to check the LDP’s preference arrangements to see if I can feel safe in voting above the line.
I’m pretty sure you are the only guys in town promising to do *less*. That’s my kind of thinking when it comes to governments.
